Pet Mastry +1 - Fish

So I've seen quite a lot of things with pet fish lately, mostly with goldfish. I kind of passed the image on the left off as a possible Photoshop image, but I did feel that I wish I had a little floating plastic ball like that for Firion to play with or something. Good chance he wouldn't be interested, but it'd be something to do other than to make bubble nests all the time.

Then my little brother posted this link on my Facebook, telling me to teach Firion to do tricks like this. For those of you not familiar with Nico Nico Douga videos, to turn off the scrolling comments, click on the icon on the bottom right corner. This isn't on the direct site, so there's also no need to log in to view this video. Anyway, the video shows this person's pet goldfish that can do this pretty interesting trick. When the person drops a ring into the fish tank, the goldfish will swim down to it, stick its head in so that it's sort of wearing the ring around itself, and bring it back up to the surface to the person's finger. Definitely an interesting trick to witness. Of course, Firion is so much sleeker than the goldfish in the video, so I kind of doubt that I could find a ring of the right size for him to attempt that trick. But even more importantly, how do I train a fish to do tricks like that? Well, I happened to stumble across the solution.

Crawling for Progression

It sure has been a while since I've done one of these. A lot of the reason why I stopped doing this was due to the lack of popularity in these posts where I talk about the progresses I've been making in the games that I play, and I don't blame you. Reading text about what part I'm at in each game is not all that interesting, especially if I try to go with no spoilers. Well, not this time! I might as well make use of the spoiler button when appropriate. It also doesn't help that I've been awfully slow at most games since I'm juggling too many at once, making small progress in each. I have been keeping myself from starting up new games though, in hopes of finishing up some more games before I do.

Failure - Nice Joke

So I've had a pretty rough start this year with the blog. I got distracted by other activities, mostly not even for my own personal benefit either, to post as regularly as I would have. On top of all that, it turns out that I can't seem to gain access to the list of people who has "liked" The Code from the Facebook Like button either. Add to that, how little the number of participants were for the Giveaway event, that I am going to be cancelling the raffle.

Don't worry, if you're still interested in the coupons that I have, please just leave a comment with your Steam Username, and then contact me on Steam. If you search "Locke Trufeld", you should be able to find me. If not, try this link.

Of course, this means that now the coupons are first come, first serve, so don't miss out on a nice opportunity to save some money on games.

Initial Look at the Gamepad

So I've been trying out the gamepad that I got for Christmas, The Logitech Gamepad F310, and wanted to give a little details on the first impression I got from using it. Any console gamer would know the importance of a good gaming controller for playing games, especially in a competitive situation, where it is "somewhat agreeable" on blaming a loss or a missed input on the bad controller. Believe me, I've been there, when playing games like Super Smash Bros. Melee, and there's that one ghetto controller for the 4th player that's all worn out and/or a third-party controller. Whether if the controller really is defective or simply been roughly handled, it certainly can make a difference to your performance. So how does this gamepad compare to both the keyboard + mouse for PC gaming, and how it feels next to a PS3 controller?

Going Against SOPA / PIPA

I haven't been keeping up with politics and law much, but this is just such a big deal, I felt the need to blog my stance on Stop Online Piracy Act and Protect IP Act. I've signed a petition a while back, but I may sign it again on this petition from Google. Here's another petition against Entertainment Software Association who's supporting SOPA, and as a gamer, I support the companies I buy games from, but if supporting them means supporting ESA, which supports SOPA, then we're at a loss. Thankfully, Stuttering Craig from ScrewAttack has a solution.

Aside from that, I'm against SOPA because a good majority of this blog consists of me talking about the games that I play. If copyrighted materials get censored, there will be very little for me to talk about on this blog.

The biggest argument of all though is that pirates will find another way to keep doing what they're doing anyway. Why does everyone else have to suffer a possibly bigger punishment; just to be a minor hindrance to the pirates that the bill is targeting? It's a no-brainer that SOPA and PIPA are just going to cause more harm than it does any good.

If you haven't signed a petition yet, it is in everyone's benefit for you to do so. If you think that enough people have signed them already and made it known how bad it is for you to do anything, think again. I've seen cases where some ridiculous laws have passed because of negligent thoughts like that and things turn for the worse, and I don't want to see that happening again. If you already have signed the petitions, you could always find more people to sign them as well.

I can definitely say this though. If SOPA or PIPA DO somehow pass, I will probably stop blogging. ._. It would definitely sadden me, but with little topics to post about, and the need to tip toe around all censored subjects, it just wouldn't be worth the trouble for me to do all that to share my thoughts on the internet. Maybe I'll just... actually write in a journal or something. Out of public eyes, and not have the self-motivation of improving my writing either. That would definitely suck. >_>

Review - Sequence

So I just finished Sequence by Iridium Studios, and long story short, I had lots of fun. I do tend to like unique games that throw RPG elements into other genres like Puzzle Quest: Galactrix which I've played on the DS, but this is the first time I've seen a game try a RPG mix with a rhythm game like Dance Dance Revolution or its many imitations like Flash Flash Revolution. Well, what Sequence did works out pretty well, albeit a bit complicated at first.

Progress - S.P.A.Z. + Review part 1

So when I saw Space Pirates And Zombies on Steam, I knew that this was a game that I was waiting for. The game based around the 2D, space action RPG gameplay like that of the Escape Velocity series by Ambrosia Software Inc. which I have greatly enjoyed during my days as a youth with a Mac computer before I got Windows. So what do I think of it, and how am I doing in the game? Read more and you'll know.

Wishlist Update - January 2012

THIS wishlist is going to be here to replace all previous wishlists because of how ... well, disorganized the whole thing has gotten, being on 3 separate lists with some items being obtained now thanks to Christmas. If I am careful enough, this wishlist should be the ONLY updated wishlist until maybe November or something when my birthday is at. I'll also be listing them in tiers of priority as well to better categorize my need for these things. With that said, here's hoping to see this wishlist last unlike all my previous ones. >_<

New Year's Code

Happy New Years, and welcome to 2012!

Now, I'm not too big on setting New Year's Resolutions, and my resolution for 2011 didn't get accomplished either, which was to find a job and to have some spending money for this year. It's unfortunate, and kind of ridiculous that I can't even get a low paying job at a fast food restaurant around here in Florida. While I will still be carrying on last year's resolution into this year, I am also making a new resolution for this year as well. Or perhaps a New Year's Code, as this year's resolution is to work a lot more on this blog; from making more graphics, writing more reviews, and other things to have a long-term appeal to current and new readers alike. But first, need to clean up after myself from 2011. Here are the poll results that have been long overdue.
